Meet Our Consultants

The people you work with at Charlie’s Journey aren’t just experienced in what they do — they understand what it’s like to live with chronic illness and navigate the PIP process themselves.

We know that talking openly about how your health affects your life can feel daunting, especially with someone you’ve never met. This page gives you the chance to get to know the consultants you may work with before your appointment.

Find out more about their professional experience, lived experience and, most importantly, the people behind the job.

Our Consultants

Founder & Consultant

Charlie is the person behind Charlie’s Journey — quite literally! What started from her own experience of chronic illness and navigating the PIP process has grown into everything Charlie’s Journey is today.

She knows first-hand what it feels like to have your life completely changed by chronic illness, while also having to fight your way through processes that can feel overwhelming, exhausting and bloody confusing.

That lived experience, alongside the knowledge she has built through years of supporting others, is at the heart of how Charlie works. She’s informal, straight-talking, definitely not posh and focused on helping you explain what life is actually like for you.

Consultant & Registered Learning Disability Nurse

Topaz is one of us! She is a chronically ill warrior who has had to adjust her life to get out of what I call ‘survival mode’. She has also personally experienced the PIP process, so she understands the hell we have to go through in that regard as well.

On top of being a fellow chronic illness warrior & PIP survivor, she is STUNNING at her job! Topaz is a Registered Learning Disability Nurse with over 15 years’ experience.
